Carl Schlichtinger

Carl Schlichtinger, LCSW attained a Master of Social Work in Clinical Practice from Adelphi University, School of Social Work, Garden City NY, in May 1996. He was licensed by New York State the same year.  He is a NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker having an office centrally located in Staten Island NY 10306 doing business as Journey Counseling Service.

In addition to the Adelphi studies there is a focus on Catholic psychology grounded in the study and clinical work of Conrad W. Baars, MD and Anna A. Terruwe, MD based on a Rational Emotive therapy called Affirmation Therapy.  In addition to recognition of repressive emotional disorders, Affirmation Therapy further identifies the Emotional Deprivation Disorder, which results from not receiving the Affirmation (or the gift of oneself) in childhood and adolescent years of development. 

Carl was certified in Havening Technique® May 2017.  The Technique provides for successful removal of emotionally charged events of early childhood and later life trauma, stress related events, and the  experience of denial by caretakers and others over time that are present in the life of one who was deprived of that Affirmation required for healthy living.  Removal of the causes of flash backs and reactive behaviors that are unconsciously and automatically present due to formerly encoded trauma(s) clears the way to providing Affirmation Therapy devoid of the high anxiety states of previously traumatized patients. The Havening Techniques® accomplishes this in many instances.
