A family tragedy, the death of my beloved sister, Jean, when she was just 32, led me to seek couselling. Her death left her husband, two young daughters, our parents and other friends and family bereft.

This loss guided my career path. I worked for over 25 years, in a specialist school for mainstream Nursery children and older children with a wide range of complex needs, challenging behaviour and Autism.  The school was an amzingly unique place. The Nursery ran purely for the inclusion of special children. It gave the special children the opportunity to mentor the little ones, to feel good about themselves and Nursery children were just accepting of people who may look or behave differently to them. I am very proud of the work we we did. Sadly the Nursery closed and I worked full time in the special school.

Wonderful work was done by dedicated, passionate, highly trained individuals, but I wondered why some children would 'cut off thier nose to spite their face'. Their behaviour made no sense. I studied psychology, then couselling and found myself at the Child Centre for Mental Health in London, England. This is where I was introduced to the work of Bruce Perry, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Dan Siegal, the centres founder Dr. Margot Sunderland and many others. Now the children's behaviour made sense to me. You see it wasn't about what happened in the classroom. It was an Amyigdala based reaction to a perceived threat. Sadly, this information didn't cross over into the classroom.

I retired in 2014 to help care for my elderly Mother. I volunteered for a charity, supporting victims of crime. I came across Havening by chance. I thought it strange and intriguing. I decided to take the training and I can honestly say it has changed my life. Not least, because I'm now free of the backpain that had plagued me for over 20 years. That happened in just one session. I've been hooked ever since.

Havening allows me to work content free. It maybe that you have a felt sense of dis-ease or your problems are just too difficult to talk about. My work is client led - seeking permission at every step of the way. I offer a supportive space to foster growth. To live fully in the here and now and not be trapped by the physical and emotional pain of the past.

I feel blessed to have discovered this wonderful community of fellow Haveners, who are always supportive and collaborative. I'm honoured to walk amoung them on this journey.

I am self employed and work with both adults and children (over 6 only at the moment) on line via Zoom from my home in Essex UK.
