Kia Ora, welcome!

My husband Geoffrey and I moved to the beautiful Northland, Te Tai Tokerau in Whangarei (New Zealand) in 2023. We have been blessed to find our forever home in this beautiful part of the country with one, of my two children, living with us on the land. It's a dream come true.

I am employed at a not-for-profit organisation Family Works, here in Whangarei as a Counsellor working alongside children and their families in our community. I also facilitate a couple of programes such as; KidShine (children who have experienced domestic violence/abuse), Parenting in Prison, and the popular 14 week Incredible Years which has allowed me to introduce the gift of havening to a wider audience.

I hold a Bachelor of Social Practice in Narrative Counselling (BoSP, 2012). My background is in counselling, social work, community work & mediation. Alongside facilitator for Strengthening Families, Parenting through Separation, Strengthening Step Families and The Incredible Years.

My professional career has seen me work in mainly Not-for-Profit & community organisations, high schools/collages. Private counselling, and contract work with Primary Health Organisation (PHO) & EAP.

I have a holistic approach walking alongside our young tamariki and individuals with complex trauma, mental health, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, self esteem, suicidal ideation, whanau/family relationships, abuse, identity, self harm, relationships, behavioural, loss and grief to name a few. I truly enjoy my life's work, with my youngest client 5 years old and my oldest 82 years old!

I was an adult student, with two young children when I began my degree in 2008. I have found learning exciting and I have trained in many different therapies and healing practices such as Narrative Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, CBT, Reiki to name a few. However, the cherry on top, when the pieces of the puzzle came together, was when I trained in the art of Havening with Dr Robin Youngson, with the support of Dr Kamaia Pere.

I have found Havening to be an effective, dignified and respectful way to work alongside people. The results I have seen in my personal and professional life has changed my practice, and the way we live. It has ignited my passion and given me hope for the healing that can be done for children, individuals, families and our communities.

With havening, you can feel within, when your 'truth shines through' and your true self naturally emerges.

"Are you ready to find your safe haven?"
