Leigh is a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Founder of The Astoria Doula Collective, and the first certified Havening Doula in the US. During the first few years of her Doula work, and after creating The Astoria Doula Collective, she launched an ongoing Birth Trauma Workshop Series. During her work with women exploring, processing and healing through their birth stories, she felt drawn to the importance of mental healthcare before, during and after giving birth.
Years later, she was introduced to Havening, and finally felt she had found a tool to bring peace and comfort to these women, in a way that other methods of healing hadn’t yet. In her first Havening session (30 minutes) she was able to de-sensitize a memory of birth trauma that had been haunting one of her clients for over a year. Quickly seeing the (what seemed impossible) benefits of Havening, she started Havening any client who was curious, and over time developed protocols to treat prenatal anxiety, White Coat Syndrome, fear of labor/birth, escalated blood pressure during labor, and postpartum anxieties.
Through listening to clients and gently guiding them when necessary, Havening has changed many women’s trajectories into motherhood. Leigh is continually humbled by this healing modality, and explores new ways to help all populations heal from past traumas and be more resilient for the road ahead."
