I was 40 years old, completely burnt out and close to being hospitalized before I discovered that I am a highly sensitive empath. I had never even heard of that phrase before. I didn't even know what it meant. I didn't know just how important it was to understand that part of myself and the impact it had on the way I experience life, the world and the people around me.
So many of us have been through some kind of trauma. Highly sensitive empaths can find it overwhelming and traumatizing to simply be in the world. Many of us are not yet aware that we are highly sensitive. We may spend much of our lives feeling like there is something terribly wrong with us. We want to stay hidden, build walls of protection, control and ignore our own feelings. We want to take care of everyone else. This can lead to feeling lost and invisible, to mind-body-spirit burn out and dis-ease.
Today, I am passionate about helping others find healing on all levels. Especially highly sensitive empaths. My work is to help them discover and learn about this fudamental and crucially important part of who they are. To re-discover buried parts of themselves. To peel away the layers of self-protection from life already lived. To help them dissolve the bonds of trauma so their wounds, whatever they may look like, can heal. They can transform their lives however way they want, need or chose.
A quote from Rob Williams, the creator of Psych-K, sums it up beautifully for me. When asked what he does, he says: "I help people discover their gifts, their greatness and their divinity." These words just feel beautiful to me!
Thank you Drs. Ronald and Steven Ruden for the gift of the Havening Techniques. It is such an amazing and powerful tool for transformation and healing. I feel grateful, honoured and privileged to be a part of the Havening community and to use Havening as the center foundational tool working with people.
