Havening is a powerful and effective psychosensory technique used for trauma, emotional healing and resetting the human potential for positivity, joy and engagement. It is based on neuro-scientific insight into trauma encoding that was pioneered by Dr. Ronald and Steven Ruden from New York. Kimm Sun, a midwife from New York City has integrated Havening with her midwifery care since 2016, and discovered that Havening skills will allow midwives, doulas and birth workers to provide a truly holistic care to clients and their families. She aims to share her work with other birth workers, and make mental and emotional health care much more assessible to the birth community of NYC.
Furthermore, the mechanisms on stress and its negative effects on the newborn has been well established. These effects include include low birth weight and smaller head circumference, preterm birth, psychopathology, deficits in attention, neurodevelopmental changes, dysfunctional metabolism and changes to gut and brain due to the alterations of the mother's vaginal microbiome.
Birth workers are uniquely situated at the forefront of this crisis, enabling them to provide this much needed mental and emotional health care. This training is designed for midwives, obstetricians, doulas, birth assistants, obstetric nurses, child birth educators, lactation consultants, body workers, social workers and anyone who works directly with families in the perinatal period. You will be receiving a complete Havening Technique training curriculum from an accredited Havening Trainer, with additional information on Kimm's Perinatal Havening practice and protocols. Our goal is to leave you excited, rejuvenated and confident in providing for your clients using a true body-mind approach. Additionally, you will have access to ways of nurturing yourself as a caregiver, something that has often been overlooked in this very challenging work.
This three-day training is the first part to becoming certified, the rest of the work will be done at home.
