Moments before and following adoption, as well as the moment of adoption itself can be traumatising. The effects and impact if traumatised can be incredibly complex, misunderstood. When others minimise this trauma or discount the impact by calling us ‘lucky’ this can lock in shame and invalidate our true feelings.

Through no fault of our own, we can have a higher rate of mental health and/or life struggles that manifest in different ways. We will look at why within this presentation:

About this presentation:

This presentation will consider that however adoption has come to pass, moments pre or post adoption, including the moment of adoption itself may potentially traumatise. The impact may affect both mind and body in various ways throughout the whole lifetime.

We will explore how the past can still be present, and how failure to recognise and attend to any original and subsequent traumas can leave profound and unhelpful consequences.

Using a new paradigm to consider all of the above, this presentation takes a deeper look at the expression 'coming out of the fog' and the life long impact of adoption and how Havening may help.

A brief introduction to Havening will be shared to explore the benefits of this modality. Including how Havening can dissolve the mind and body effects and life limiting/altering consequences of traumatisation. Self Havening will be shared as a takeaway for everyday personal use to help build regulation strategies and promote self-healing.

Who is this presentation is for:

Anyone who has been adopted and is aged 18 and over.

Please remember your own self care before and after attending. This is a brief overview and is not intended to replace therapeutic support for those in deep distress.
